Did you know that most major insurance companies will cover speech therapy and Occupational Therapy? It is commonly believed that these services are an elective service. However, speech and language are crucial to your child’s development. Even a moderate delay can lead to academic difficulties later, especially in literacy development (reading/writing).
For adults that have been through a traumatic experience (i.e. stroke, traumatic brain injury, etc.) speech therapy can help regain speech and language skills. Speech therapy can also help for adults with various degenerative or aging disorders (i.e. Parkinson’s disease, dementia, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS, etc.).
Most speech therapy services are covered under the insurance plan that you already have.
