Melodie Sherer comes to Sensible Rehab with over 30 years of experience working with children in a variety of capacities. She has worked as an Occupational Therapy Assistant since completing her Associate of Applied Science degree in 2012. She was a member of the first graduating class of Linn Benton Community College’s Occupational Therapy Assistant program in Lebanon, Oregon. She has worked primarily with the pediatric population as both an Early Intervention therapist in two different Birth to Three programs and in two non-profit private pediatric clinics. Her experience includes aquatic therapy, handwriting and fine motor intervention, anxiety management, sensory integration, and support with activities of daily living.
Prior to becoming an Occupational Therapy Assistant, Melodie worked in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, teaching everything from preschool up to 6th grade, Title I Reading, and Child Development courses at a community college in Iowa. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa. Melodie also completed post-baccalaureate coursework at Portland State University in Communication Disorders.
Melodie and her husband have two grown children. They enjoy spending time with their kids’ families, especially if it involves board games. Melodie also enjoys sewing, reading, and aquatic exercise
